Organiser:

Société du Canal de Provence et d’aménagement de la région provençale (SCP), conventional hydraulic management structures in Provence (WUA) and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Regional Chamber of Agriculture

Description of the visit:

The aims of Aigo 2012 are to introduce the model used in Provence to manage irrigation systems and to compare it with other models, especially around the Mediterranean basin. This model is based on two complementary types of management structure: conventional irrigation structures in the form of water users' associations (WUAs) and a regional development company.

This complementary has led to the development of technical, legal and institutional solutions that could serve as an example in other parts of the world.

The techday will divide in two parts: the morning will be given over to an international conference organised at SCP headquarters in Le Tholonet (Aix-en-Provence). The talks will be given in French or English with simultaneous translation in French, English and Arabic. Lunch will be served on site. The afternoon will be devoted to field visits arranged in seven optional tours.

Programme:

Departure: 7:45 from Marseille Vieux Port / Gare Saint-Charles / Rond-point du Prado
Begining of the visit: 9h at Tholonet (Aix-en-Provence)
End of the visit: 17h30
Back: 19h to Marseille Vieux Port / Gare Saint-Charles / Rond-point du Prado
